Bitty's Bridal Shower

Ali and Annie did a bomb job at the shower. Not pictured was a so delicious mexican spread of food. For dessert homemade ice cream with little cookies. They also had a favor table for all of Bitty's favorite things. The cool sombreros were for all the wrong questions Bitty got when guessing Bryan's answers. The thing is, she didn't get any wrong so we just had to tower them on her head for fun.

After the shower a few of us headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon to Annie's family cabin. It's the coolest old cabin. We stayed up late to chat and woke up early for church. We breakfasted at Silver Fork Lodge.
Happy Bridal time Bitty!!!

5 of us

I live with these girls. I'm the luckiest. We went to Chuck-a-Rama to celebrate the move-in of our newest addition, Emily, about a month ago and took this picture. Actually, we asked this non English speaking man to take our picture and he ended up taking lots of video of us just posing there which was very awesome. So these are screen shots.

But let's talk about me. Bent.in.half with my shorties. Pretty cool looking huh!
Why are they all so cute and the same height?
Should I have stood up straight or would I look just as dumb?

Big Cottonwood half marathon

It was the prettiest run! Every second of it was full of fall views. I loved running with Maggie cause we talked the whole way and we have the same pace. The miles ticked by like I couldn't believe. My first full marathon is in St. George and it's just 2 weeks away! It made 13.1 miles seem not so bad.
I'm pretty sore in my calves though and I'm not sure if that's because we did the 4 mile hike the night before up Lamb's canyon or if it's from 13 miles of downhill from Big Cottonwood.
Great time. I love the race energy.

Lamb's Canyon

Melissa has been so good at planning weekly hikes this summer and this week she suggested Lamb's Canyon for a Friday evening sunset hike. We brought our headlamps, our jackets, some water, and we had a 4 mile round trip hike that was full-on Fall the entire way. We stopped every once in awhile at an extra spectacular turn and couldn't believe what we were looking at was real. Once we hit the top it was so sunsetty and romantic. We took pictures, gave a little "gooooo lamb's" cheer and went back down. It got dark fast so we were all glad for the head lamps.
Utah, guys, Utah. It's the prettiest ever.

Amber turned the ripe age of 25 last week so we threw her a party. She's pretty easy cause she loves movies, movie theater candy, and popcorn. No problem!
But I just had to make letter sugar cookies. I had just purchased cookie cutters from amazon and I did frosting through a plastic condiment holder and it was perfect.

I love Amber. We've been roommates for close to 3 years now.

Things I love about Amber (for the record):
her swim coachness
she's so good at jeopardy
such a good singer
appreciates good music in the car
big Beatles fan
high school history teacher
shops sale only
great at watching Breaking Bad with me
karaoke killer
raspy voice
very disciplined
her crush on Josh Brolin

Teen blogged about the party HERE.

Egan's Birthday Dinner

My mom was in town so we celebrated Egan's birthday with Sunday dinner at Annie and Kenyon's. My mom really knows how to arrange flowers organically and I respect it. Know what else she's good at? Food.
We had shish-ka-bobs, bread, and corn on the cob. Dessert was angel food cake with fresh peaches, and a paleo friendly pudding for Egan.

Egan turns 31!

It was Egan's actual birthday on Wednesday and some girlfriends met for sushi and then to a dessert party with lots of friends. As you can tell in the pictures, Egan and I were identical twins for the night which was pretty bananas. Our outfits head to toe, even accessories, were on point. So weird, but everything I've learned I got from Egan so it makes some sense.
My family draws names for birthdays and this year I had Egan's name. I had these tiny gifts and decided to wrap it this way cause it seemed more fun. Inside those boxes are earrings, that tube is a really cool bracelet, and Sugar lip stuff. Happy Birthday EGAN!

Utah State Fair

Friday night was my first visit to the Utah State Fair. I didn't even mean to take this many of my Salt Lake living years, it just happened, slipped on by. Big regrets.
The Pharaoh's Fury ride had us dieing laughing. And I ate 3/4 of that kettle corn bag myself, no problem.

The iphone photos are not prime. It's too bad.

Look how cool my friend Melissa's are though. HERE.

Back to School // August

/front of classroom/
On the whiteboard you'll see my Workshop pocket chart, some math stair steps and numbers, the daily schedule, and lots of alphabet books!
photo 7
I finally took the plunge and organized all my books this year into bins and labeled them. I am so glad I did and why did I take so long to do it? You can never have enough books and I would love about 100 more.
photo 6
We celebrated colors the first two weeks and did an art project every day. You can tell I ran out of space, but I think it looks fun.
photo 5
Ever since student teaching I've wanted Dr. Jean cds for my classroom and I finally bought one. I also bought these rockin guy which has a lot of great language arts songs. But Dr. Jean is amazing! I play about 4ish songs a day from that cd. It's the best! The kids sing along and it works excellent for transitions.

>calendar and reading area<
I was handed that ugly stool the first year of teaching and it's worked just fine. This is where I do phonemic awareness and word wall words each morning, where I read books, and also do calendar. Sometimes I'll teach mini math lessons here with the whiteboard.
photo 3
>calendar<
We sing lots of songs at calendar. A song about the day, a song for the days of the week, months of the year, and poems for the money. They also graph the weather every day and there is a Dr. Jean song for that!
photo 2
>word wall<
I redid my word wall posters and I'm so glad I did cause last year's had faded pretty bad.
photo 1
Every day I select a King and Queen (boy and girl) from the class and we learn their name and we ask them a bunch of questions. Then they help me write a sentence about them and I add it to the wall. The painted letters were from an art project they did with the art teacher.
FAQ: "where is your favorite place to camp?" "what do you like to do outside?" "what's your favorite pillow pet creation?" "what's your favorite color/toy/animal/movie?"

August 2012

My 4th year of teaching has begun!
We are a few weeks in and I am really loving this class I have! They are so darling. I see really great times happening this year.

Crystal Cove + Ruby Shake Shack

One of my favorite summer memories. Long live summer!
My brother-in-law, Dave, knows how to make something happen. Getting bikes, kids, and all of us set up for a nice sunset cruise was all thanks to him. Then treating us to shakes, come on! Best guy around.
