"You Inspire Me"

Picture 6
You know I love Dallas Clayton.

He's been on the blog a few times:
When his first book came out HERE
When he came to my classroom HERE
My Year 2 review HERE
When his second book came out HERE

I just saw his new line of inspirational watercolor posters and I am in LOVE once again.
They are each originals and every single one makes me smile. I would love to have them up in my classroom. Don't you feel happier, inspired, motivated?

"the light which shineth"

Picture 6

I had a bad week 2 weeks ago. It went like this:

+laptop crashed and 12,000+ photos GONE
+car problems mean $100+ here and another $2,700+ there. Guh
+new watch, broken. wah.
+possibility of a job change, then a call saying it wasn't going to happen. crushed
+looking for a new house to rent, proving to be let down after let down.
+my remote car keys both broken making that an almost $200 fix
+and sometimes I get overwhelmed with nova granola, which is actually only a good thing because that means business

sob. sob.

It's all cool now. Things get better. I have my laptop back and I learned a lesson in backing up important stuff. My car runs smooth. I bought a new watch. The new job might actually swing my way again. We'll find a house to rent eventually. My car keys are a go! Nova orders are made and I love doing it. I survive.

wanna know what felt good? reading this:
Doctrine & Covenants 88 verses 6-13

 7 Which truth shineth. This is the light of Christ. As also he is in the sun, and the light of the sun, and the power thereof by which it was made.
 8 As also he is in the moon, and is the light of the moon, and the power thereof by which it was made;
 9 As also the light of the stars, and the power thereof by which they were made;
 10 And the earth also, and the power thereof, even the earth upon which you stand.
 11 And the light which shineth, which giveth you light, is through him who enlighteneth your eyes, which is the same light that quickeneth your understandings;
 12 Which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space—

Expectations

“If you treat an individual as he is, he will stay as he is. But if you treat him as if he were what he could be and ought to be, he will become what he ought to be.”

we are lonesome animals

Picture 1
"We are lonesome animals. We spend all our life trying to be less lonesome. One of our ancient methods is to tell a story, begging the listener to say --- and feel--- "Yes, that's the way it is, or at least that's the way I feel it. You're not as alone as you thought."

Biebs

After seeing Justin Bieber Never Say Never last night I came home to browse for high tops.
Only Natural right? I couldn't get over the high tops that were all over that big screen.

And Justin...completely adorable.
And me...completely enthralled the whole time.

(can i be one less lonely girl?) see...look at his tops

"stop your mother's car, I just saw a shooting star"

(shoot, who's image is this?)
"a person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. you can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely." -roald dahl

Simplify

+++

Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify
Henry David Thoreau

An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.
Henry David Thoreau

If life and its rushed pace and many stresses have made it difficult for you to feel like rejoicing, then perhaps now is a good time to refocus on what matters most.
Elder Uchtdorf

I'm giving a lesson in Relief Society today on Elder Uchtdorf's talk Of Things That Matter Most
I have loved reading and listening to this talk all week. I have found it to be such a great exercise to look at my life and ask myself where I am spending most of my time. I am reminded how much I love the topic of simplicity and the desire I have to rid of the extra stuff. A simpler wardrobe, simpler foods, a simpler home, a simpler use of my time. I always find more joy and purpose when I am doing the things that I know I should be doing and not cluttering my life with the fluffy stuff. The four key relationships that need nurturing and time are with Heavenly Father, my Family, Fellowman, and Myself. I am feeling rejuvenated.

celebratory

To celebrate the day off of work I got myself a new cookbook I spotted at Costco this morning. I'm so excited about it. I've probably skimmed through it 4+ times already today. Great pictures, exciting recipes, and valuable information.

And I couldn't let the day slip by with out a little thought to Martin Luther King Jr. I am reading Half the Sky right now and today I came upon a MLK quote which was perfect timing.

"We must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent."

Have you been checking out supernova granola blog? I'm posting most of my food, recipes, and healthy information over there.

i want to remember this...
