Spring at the Market

3/29/13
Seattle, WA
Pike Place Market

We met my dad for lunch at the golf club near his work. I love my dad. I don't get to hang out with him as much as my mom cause he's a working man and also a tax man.
Since we were already downtown and the day was so beautiful, going to the market was a no-brainer. The daffodils were out and the place was packed. My mom picked up produce for Easter dinner and we shared a half dozen assorted mini donuts. Pretty perfect.
I didn't have my nice camera, so the iphone would have to do.

That night we met my dad in the U District to eat dinner at Chipotle. Then we headed over to a Mormon stake center that was doing a Good Friday event. They had a local Methodist church come and sing. Very very cool. Great voices.

Day Trip to Deception Pass

3/28/13

It's one of our favorite spots to take tourists and I've been tons with my family and guests over the years. My mom and I drove the hour over to the pass and it couldn't have been a prettier day. We walked around exploring trails and snapping lots of pictures. The water color! the green! The height of the bridge! We love it there.
My mom and I walked around on the beach for awhile and turns out she loves wet rocks and I love dry rocks. Did you know you could have an opinion on such a thing? Cause we do!
Also, a huge part of my childhood memory is all the camping and day trips and beaches like this, where we climbed on logs and played with rocks and built log forts. It's so nostalgic. Take me back to childhood.

After, we stopped in La Conner to eat lunch and immediately spotted a Thai restaurant. It was so good and fresh.

St. Edwards State Park

3/30/13
It's one of my favorite places to stroll and explore when I go home--- St. Edward's State Park
There are lots of trails, TONS of trees, plenty of moss, and Lake Washington right there.

two talls and a totem

Before my mom dropped me off at the airport we stopped by a totem pole that we both had never been to before. I would love to go back to this spot in the summer when the weather is better for a picnic with blue skies and green everything.
I love Seattle!

Seattle in January

January 21-28, 2013

It worked out perfectly to drive the rental car from Portland to Seattle. Easy 3 hour drive. I came home to a hot homemade dinner and my parents. Perfect.

Things we did over the week:
shopped at UVillage
reorganized my mom's cookbooks
downtown shopping and Pikes Place
saw Amour (don't see it, it's disturbing)
 cooked lots (check over HERE)
got pedicures and manicures
walked around Laurelhurst and Green Lake
s'mores and cookies and popcorn treats by the fire at night
met my Dad for lunch at the golf club
photobooth at Third Place Books
sorted through family photos because my mom is turning them into digital copies

We ate at Paseo Caribbean Restaurant in Ballard. which was a place we had heard great things about on the world wide web. Turns out, it's a little shack in Ballard with some outdoor benches and lots of people braving the cold for a dinner. My mom and I both got sandwiches, her's was pork, mine was alaskan cod. We looooved them. Can't wait to go back in the Summer and eat outside.

Walking around Green Lake my mom showed me this tree that had been cut down recently. This perfect flower heart there made me smile. Oh, Seattle.

In Fremont we ate at a little place called Homegrown. The vibe is good in there, all local ingredients and freshly baked bread, but the sandwiches exceeded our expectations. Every bite we were like "ohhh wow, so good!"
