Music Monday 20

Just watched Rushmore again.
It's had me repeating these lines in my head. Cause they're my fave

Herman Blume: So you've changed your mind and you want the job.
Max Fischer: No, I've got an idea and I need some money.

and

Max Fischer: [to Dr. Peter] I was punched in the face. What's your excuse?

What's this got to do with Music Monday you ask?
Cat Stevens.
It has me thinking about Cat Stevens. I don't think I've listened to 'Peace Train' enough in my life or 'Wild World' for that matter.
I can change that. Just did.
I love 'The Wind' played on Rushmore.
Listen.

F-Day

Happy Father's Day to my Dad!
Pretty sure he doesn't look at my blog, but that's why I sent him a card.
I just feel that it's necessary to send it out to the universe (or world wide web) that I LOVE MY DAD! I'm a lucky, lucky girl to have him. He is a loving husband, a supportive father, an adoring grandpa, a caring brother, a perfect son, a generous neighbor, a thoughtful friend, and a man who knows what he believes and stands for his convictions. I am so ever in awe at the person he is. Remarkable.

Week 1-CSA

We had our first pickup for CSA last Thursday! It was a thrill. I'm up to my eyes in green! Chard, Spinach, Beets, Red Lettuce and more. Egan suggested I try Joy the Baker's Quiche with the spinach. It was my first quiche, it was crustless, and I looooved it!
Try it.

We took a roadie to Wyoming this weekend! 2 hours away!!! Who woulda thought?! We found ourselves surrounded by miles of green land and the biggest sky I've ever seen. Magnificent. It had me thinking about ranches. Also about how much I love my girlfriends.

Enya with Bounce

It's a stormy one tonight. I laaaaaalove it!
When I see/hear Yeasayer I am immediately at Full Attention (as blogged about here, here, here , here)Today I heard a new song with Chris Keating of Yeasayer and Simian Mobile Disco (which whom I know nothing about)! I loved it. And I think Chris's voice is perfect for a little techno-dance song. Check it out here.

Music Monday 19

Neko Case caught my attention last year when I saw her at the twilight concert series last summer. For Free! I was struck by her down-to-earth vibe. She was such an honest performer. Really blown away. 2009 has rolled around and her latest album Middle Cyclone is making waves. I adore 'I'm and Animal'---her voice is so strong, clear, and passionate. 'This Tornado Loves You' is another off her latest album that makes me drool. I wish I could have seen her at Red Butte Gardens last night.

So I have really obscure phases in my music rotations---so I give you another artist I can't seem to get enough of---The Streets. Mike Skinner (rapper from England) put out Everything is Borrowed last year and it hasn't been till this year that I have taken the time to really listen to it. I love it. 'Everything is Borrowed', 'On The Edge of a Cliff', 'The Escaptist', and 'I Love You More (Than You Like Me)' Clever lyrics that are contagious to sing a long to. I feel Mike Skinner is more of a thoughtful rapper. I listen to his music with a different purpose then when I listen to most of the American rap artists.

my ears are happy.

BadabirthdayGIVEAWAY!!!!

Teen and I are having a birthday this week! Cool huh! We turn 24. Pretty Neat.

I thought I'd do a giveaway. Lame or Awesome? I realize this blog doesn't warrant blowout giveaways done on Pioneer Women or Design Mom or Rockstar Diaries. But I have readers (ahem friends and family) too!

What will you win? Two pairs of earrings that I've made. That's TWO pairs which is also FOUR earrings---put it together TWO FOUR---24! Eh? Clever?

Will you comment on this post and tell me:
Where I should go in my 24th year of life? A place I need to visit---city, country, island, grocery store, thrift store, ranch, breakfast restaurant, anywhere.

That's all---then you qualify to win. You have until Sunday June 7th (D.O.B.) to enter. I will announce the winner next week!

Good Luck!
