Kristine and I went to Ashley and Scott's wedding reception last night in Carlsbad, CA. We met Ashley our very first semester at BYU-Idaho in the dorms. We moved in together and were roommates for the next 3 years. Now she is graduated and in love!
The reception was beautiful. She looked incredible and so happy. The stake center was transformed with beautiful lights draping overhead. I loved that she had Coldstone, it was yum yum.
We were glad to see Christina and Josh as well. Congratulations Ashley!!!!!

Music Monday 5
This week I'd like to feature an electronica/indie/rock band called Shiny Toy Guns. I recently purchased their first album "We Are Pilots" from itunes and I love it. Last week Kristine and I went to Saltair in Salt Lake City, UT to see them play along with our Rexburg favs Love You Long Time. Our legs were tired of standing by the time Shiny Toy Guns got on stage but they have great presence and a sound to match. Take a listen to "Don't Cry Out" and "You are the One". Dance your heart out.

Must see
I'm in St. George, Utah with my entire family right now and enjoying every moment. Yesterday a few of us went to the theaters. The kids all saw Alvin and the Chipmunks (they say it was funny) Kristine and I saw Enchanted. Since after Thanksgiving weekend I have received raving reviews about the flick. I still was hesitant though. Not sure if it was "my" type of movie. We laughed the whole way through and really enjoyed ourselves. Amy Adams does an excellent job and I adore her princess characteristics. James Marsden (Edward in Enchanted and Corny Collins in Hairspray) and Amy Adams did their own singing in the movie. If you haven't seen you MUST.

Thank you Sam Beam for the glorious sounds of Iron & Wine. This week I'd like to feature Carousel on the latest album The Shepard's Dog. The beautiful sounds feature acoustic guitar, banjo and slide guitars. I was first introduced to Iron & Wine when it covered Postal Service's Such Great Heights. When I listen to Carousel I feel like I'm floating down a slow river on a sunny afternoon. Enjoy the trip.

San Francisco
I've been thinking for awhile now about what my next trip should be. I had quite the summer of adventures traveling to 6 different countries in Europe and visiting New York with my sisters. In 2008 I would LOVE to take a little trip down to San Francisco!!! If you've been to San Francisco I want to know all the must-go stops and best parts of the city. The vintage stores lining Haight Ashbury I hear are fantastic. I also would love to see the Stanford campus up in Palo Alto. Look forward to hearing your suggestions.

We never stop dancing.

This week I'd like to feature Stars, their album 'Hearts' is well worth the pocket change at itunes. The second track "Elevator Love Letter" is what I'm listening to right now and I love the song that follows: "Heart". Vocalists Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan have this absolutely beautiful blend. If you like what you hear check out "Ageless Beauty" from the album 'Set yourself on fire'.
Happy Listening!

Rexburg goes to JACKSON
We decided to take a little trip to Jackson, Wyoming on Saturday! At 4pm we hopped into 3 cars and took a beautiful drive through Tetonia, Driggs, Victor, up the pass to Jackson. I was amazed at the beauty around me. Tall mountains dusted with snow. Fields on both sides of the road that go for miles. Small towns with simple people. I enjoyed the (almost) 2 hour drive except for a little scare on the pass. Luckily I had mighty-fine passengers who encouraged me through the icy turns. A little down shifte and 4 wheel drive did the trick.
We at at BUBBA's for a little country BBQ. We all enjoyed our LARGE plates of meat.
It was a cold night, but after dinner we walked around Jackson and I think we all wished we had come a few hours earlier to enjoy the town when the stores were actually open.
Before heading back we grabbed some Starbucks to warm our numb feet and hands. The drive back was eeeeezy breeeezy.

There's a new girl in Town..
On Saturday night some of my girlfriends hit up the cheap theater for HAIRSPRAY Sing-a-long! I know! I know! So COOL! We could not stop laughing the whole movie. I have never experienced anything like it. Of course we sat in the first few rows and sang every word. Loudly. When the credits started rolling we got dancin.

Ski Season
Last night a group of us went to The Westwood Theater (Thank you Rexburg for keeping this ancient theater around, I love it)to watch the Warren Miller annual Ski movie. I've been to this for the past 3 years and it's my favorite fall tradition. It's a 98 minute ski flick covering all the best skiers and the hot spots for the coming season. Full of ridiculous sunglass face tans, shaggy dudes, and pumping jams...I enjoy every minute. What's funny is I haven't skied in years. Not since sometime back in high school. Regardless I feel fired up for the winter season ahead. My favorite part of the night was intermission when they gave away prizes. Out of 12 of us that went 7 of us won a prize! It was hilarious. The prizes were certificates for local restaurants, snow hats, a day pass etc. Every time one of our names was read we shrieked, hollered, whistled, whooped...the usual victorious noises. The entire theater was in shock how we kept winning.

Best Thing Since Sliced Bread...
CHECK OUT www.thehoodinternet.com! Holy Moly this stuff is amazing. They've matched up artists from the indie and hip hop scenes to make some beautiful music. I just listened to Ghostland Observatory (they came to Rexburg...super awesome) and Pimp C. I am a happy girl.

This is Halloween. This is Halloween.
Halloween this year was off the heeezy. I had a blast playing dress up. A week ago we went to a big party and I dressed up as a dead prom date. We went with a group of friends and after goofing around for a little bit we took the party to our place and had a dance party like you've never seen.
On Wednesday we went to another party that a clothing store in town was putting on. A couple girl friends and I had the idea to dress as Run DMC...but then it just turned into chicks in 80's hip hop gear. We made out shirts and I put my hair in dreads. Again we danced for a bit at the party but took our friends back to our place and watched The Night Before Christmas at a friends house. Count down till next year.

Busy Busy day!
Yesterday was CRAZY!!! My calling as Ward Activities Co-chair has taken up lots of my time during the week. We have had an activity every week, so it has been a challenge. I have such a great ward and everyone wants to have a good time. Last night we had a Halloween "State Fair" themed activity. We crocked potted loads of chili and baked many a batch of corn bread. The pie eating contest was the best.
My friend John also came into town. It is always great to see old friends! We hit up Applebee's with a crew of people.
BUCK BUCK
Last night we were celebrating our friend Gary's 24th year of life with some icecream and cookies. Before we knew it our living room turned into a circus. Quite literally. We started really getting into all these acrobatic tricks and trying new things. It was really quite hilarious. We also played this game that Kristine taught where the boys get together and make a flat base using their backs then we ran one by one and jumped ontop of the base. You yell "Buck buck 1...buck buck 2" etc. I love college.

Aesthetic Appeal
So my friend busted out this new number (no pun intended) the other day. 5 Gum. It is so sleek!!! I was automatically intrigued and had to get my hands on some. The best part is it tastes great and lasts forever. I LOVE me some gum so this black casing is just the trick to pull out of that back pocket. Check it out!!

Ruff & Ready...HOt & Sweaty
That is right Ladies and Gentleman I am on a flag football team...well...not so much anymore. We lost. But does that reeeally matter? Intramurals...come on. Our team consists of my apartment and next door neighbors. I've played on teams for the past few years up here and we have a blast. We have fans...but they laugh AT us, well I guess WITH us because we laugh more than we play. The season is over, but we'll be back.

New Obsession
I tend to get on these "kicks"...for instance last winter I spent too much time surfing wikipedia. Every chance I got I read up on any band, book, actor, movie, or thing that I could think of on wikipedia. That phased out and of late my new obsession is NPR All Songs Considered. I signed up a year ago to get emails from them and most the time ignore them, but lately I can't get enough. I go to NPR anytime I'm working on my laptop and find a new band to listen to. They have all their NPR concerts recorded and give the best reviews to new, exciting bands. I've been listening to Rilo Kiley the most. They also cover Iron & Wine, Ben Gibbard, Modest Mouse, Interpol, Bright Eyes, etc. etc. etc. I love being able to listen to full tracks when I'm checking out new music instead of the 30 seconds on itunes. Music to my ears.
