hike date

A month or more ago a guy got my number at a church dance (ya...i'm 27, i know) and he set up a double date a few weeks later with his roommate and I brought Mags. We found a hike by Wasatch that was really great. Steep climbing and if you took a minute to turn 180 degrees you looked back at a beautiful sky and valley. Hikes are great dates cause you can talk and you cannot talk, you get to be outside, and you're getting a nice workout. We had to tell the boys it was time to turn around even though they were determined to get to this waterfall because we were gonna catch nightfall and we didn't have any light. Girls know best. Also, I was frozen to the bone. By the time we got back to the car there was 1/2" thick ice packed around inside my boots. My feet were purple when I got home and took the rest of the night to get back to normal. Burr people, burr.

Presidents Day Weekend
St. George, UT

We had our condo open up for Prez Day weekend so Egan and I jumped at the chance. My roommates came and same with Courtney.
Friday //
First things first---Cafe Rio in Cedar City
Then we got way cozy and watched 500 Days of Summer

Saturday //
I went on a run and it felt amazing. Running outside...gimme!
Egan rode her bike.
All the rest of the girls went to Vegas for a shopping trip.
The rest of the day Egan and I went to my nieces soccer games (her team won both games!) and we went to Snow Canyon with Stacie and Clay. We couldn't get over the weather.
Dinner was at El Coyote and hot tub time after.

Sunday //
Went to Church.
Ate breakfast outside in the sun at Xeteva which was delicious and a must-go-to in St. George
We hiked around some more in Snow Canyon
Dinner at Cafe Rio in Cedar City (and the circle completes)

A few Saturdays ago I finally made it to Antelope Island. I can't believe it took me 5 years of living here to finally do it. It's a great Salt Lake City adventure spot. Plenty of animals to see and 360 degrees of beautiful land. I gotta come back in the summer.

two talls and a totem

Before my mom dropped me off at the airport we stopped by a totem pole that we both had never been to before. I would love to go back to this spot in the summer when the weather is better for a picnic with blue skies and green everything.
I love Seattle!

Seattle in January

January 21-28, 2013

It worked out perfectly to drive the rental car from Portland to Seattle. Easy 3 hour drive. I came home to a hot homemade dinner and my parents. Perfect.

Things we did over the week:
shopped at UVillage
reorganized my mom's cookbooks
downtown shopping and Pikes Place
saw Amour (don't see it, it's disturbing)
 cooked lots (check over HERE)
got pedicures and manicures
walked around Laurelhurst and Green Lake
s'mores and cookies and popcorn treats by the fire at night
met my Dad for lunch at the golf club
photobooth at Third Place Books
sorted through family photos because my mom is turning them into digital copies

We ate at Paseo Caribbean Restaurant in Ballard. which was a place we had heard great things about on the world wide web. Turns out, it's a little shack in Ballard with some outdoor benches and lots of people braving the cold for a dinner. My mom and I both got sandwiches, her's was pork, mine was alaskan cod. We looooved them. Can't wait to go back in the Summer and eat outside.

Walking around Green Lake my mom showed me this tree that had been cut down recently. This perfect flower heart there made me smile. Oh, Seattle.

In Fremont we ate at a little place called Homegrown. The vibe is good in there, all local ingredients and freshly baked bread, but the sandwiches exceeded our expectations. Every bite we were like "ohhh wow, so good!"

Portland // day 3

For breakfast Egan and I went to our cousins house for a dynamite pancake and french toast breakfast with all the fixings. It was nice to visit with them and their cute kids. No pictures.

We met up with Jimmy and then took off to walk around and check out some shops. For lunch we decided we better check out a food truck and decided on Whole Bowl which was a good choice. It wasn't our first choice, but with it being MLK day and a Monday a lot of places were closed. I wish I could just have a tiny sample of each food truck though. Lots of interesting food trucks in Portland. We had time for a treat before heading to the airport so Jimmy took us to this neat little cafe in the Pearl District.

Egan flew back to Utah and I took the rental car to Seattle.

I can't wait to go back to Portland, it was amazing!

Portland // day 2 continued

Indian Beach, OR
January 20, 2013

Our cousin tipped us off about heading 2 miles up from Cannon Beach to Indian Beach, which is in Ecola State Park. MY oh my, what a sight! We hiked along the shore line and it felt like a dream. Lush, mossy, green goodness in there. We could have spent hours there.

Egan and our trusty Kia rental. You should know that Egan loves a good car picture.

We were rolling at how creepy this picture was. Egan made me do it though.

When we got back in to Portland we met back up with Jimmy and Lance. This is Egan and I waiting for the boys to open the gate for us. We took a nice walk around Pearl District to get dinner and then to the grocery store for cookie dough.

Back at the boys' place we were watching tv and I may or may not have changed the channel to Oprah's next chapter. I almost lost it when Jimmy spread out the dish cloth, milk, and glasses, while Lance placed the freshly baked cookies down. Good form boys! I didn't make them watch Oprah for long, we watched a great ESPN 30 for 30 documentary to finish the night.
