Really loved having Teen and Jen in town this weekend. (even if it's for a sad reason) It was super great to have all the sisters together. We really missed the rest of the group that wasn't here (i'm looking at you Dad, Benson, Lindsey, Dave). Dinner out at the Dodo in Sugarhouse was a nice way to spend Friday night.

cindy and sophia
We went to an art show last weekend at Fice. They were featuring photographs by Ricky Powell. Celebrities like Andy Warhol, Eazy E, Beastie Boys, Run DMC, etc.
I can't get over these 2 shots though. Cindy Crawford and Sophia Coppola.

selling...
Remember that felt garland I made in October?
I'm changing things up around here and I'll be making a new one.
Which means I am selling this one to the first interested person.
It's very long.
and colorful.
and could go in any room in any way.

Simplify
+++
Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify
Henry David Thoreau
An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.
Henry David Thoreau
If life and its rushed pace and many stresses have made it difficult for you to feel like rejoicing, then perhaps now is a good time to refocus on what matters most.
Elder Uchtdorf
I'm giving a lesson in Relief Society today on Elder Uchtdorf's talk Of Things That Matter Most
I have loved reading and listening to this talk all week. I have found it to be such a great exercise to look at my life and ask myself where I am spending most of my time. I am reminded how much I love the topic of simplicity and the desire I have to rid of the extra stuff. A simpler wardrobe, simpler foods, a simpler home, a simpler use of my time. I always find more joy and purpose when I am doing the things that I know I should be doing and not cluttering my life with the fluffy stuff. The four key relationships that need nurturing and time are with Heavenly Father, my Family, Fellowman, and Myself. I am feeling rejuvenated.

lemony
Ellie and I met a some months ago and since then have talked mostly about food. We decided 2011 we'd start occasionally cooking together. I'm so proud of us for following through and executing a cooking night. We emailed back and forth ideas and decided on pizza and salad. She, the pizza, and I the salad. Everything turned out perfect. I want to cook and talk and eat with friends more please.

celebratory
To celebrate the day off of work I got myself a new cookbook I spotted at Costco this morning. I'm so excited about it. I've probably skimmed through it 4+ times already today. Great pictures, exciting recipes, and valuable information.
And I couldn't let the day slip by with out a little thought to Martin Luther King Jr. I am reading Half the Sky right now and today I came upon a MLK quote which was perfect timing.
"We must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent."
Have you been checking out supernova granola blog? I'm posting most of my food, recipes, and healthy information over there.
