and staying in the A.C.ed condo was not one of them.

B&L took off to VA today.
E threw an ice cream party for them last week.

Then we after-partied with extra ice cream.

I got offered a job today.
I'm taking a job as a first grade teacher!
I feel entirely blessed about the whole situation.
The way things came together and all fell into place this week is truly amazing.
Lucky for me I'll be teaching with my roommate Kimberly---she teaches 3rd grade at the same school.
For the next few weeks I'll be in a furry preparing my classroom. GAH! I just got sweaty palms and a quicker pulse just thinking about it.
I taught first grade in student teaching...remember...here and here. I had the best cooperating teacher. I just wish I could have had more time with her!

This week we got our most exciting share...string beans, yellow and green zucchini, cherries, chard, and carrots.

Spotted this recipe yesterday and we made it for dinner last night. Smitten Kitchen is one of the most aesthetic food blogs I read. I am so glad I tried this recipe. With simple and few ingredients it was a refreshing way to use zucchini. We used Pillsbury pizza dough---which is great, but I'd love to try this with a homemade wheat dough. The goat cheese and fresh lemon juice are so complimentary. Try this immediately.

Handsome Furs

My friend Monti (photographer, mustacher, surfer, partier extraordinaire) took these shots of the Handsome Furs at a show we went to a year ago in San Diego. It was at the Casbah. Great venue.
I didn't know the Handsome Furs when I saw them a year ago, but they are unforgettable. The Canadian husband-wife duo have contagious energy and I was intrigued. Their latest album 'Face Control' has me continually excited. 'I'm Confused' is a thrilling song, it has me singing along to the unmatched and unique voice of Dan Boeckner. I should really stop.
My next favorite off the album is 'All We Want, Baby, Is Everything.' I just can't get over his shakey voice and hot synthesizer wife.
