Trade
My friend Julia and her husband are DIY dominators. They have a home they bought a year ago and are working hard at making it the tops. It blows my mind what transformations they do themselves and inexpensively.
Some of my favorite's:
A little bit ago, Julia and I did a trade. She made me a Falling Block Art piece and I made her some Nova Granola. How do I even express how much I love this block art? It's original and colorful and just what I needed for my living room. It makes me so happy every time I look at it.
You want one?
Go to her Etsty shop. She has other art too!
Thank you Julia! I feel so lucky.

Warren's Out For Her Arrest
2/16/12
Heather's Birthday!
Red Iguana for dinner
Highlander for karaoke
Home for cake
I was really wanting to make a Nothing Bundt Cake cake so I went to pinterest and found a recipe. (cheaper and more proud when you do it yourself).
The thing is, Heather doesn't like chocolate cake so I kinda had to improvise from this recipe.
This is what I did:
1 pkg. vanilla cake mix
1 pkg. instant vanilla pudding
1 c. sour cream
4 large eggs
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. oil
Mix first six ingredients together with a beater. Add chocolate chips. Pour into a greased bunt cake pan (cooking spray works best). Cook in oven at 350 degrees for 45-50 mins. Remove from oven. Let cool for 20 mins. Remove from pan. (I think it tastes best if you put it on a serving plate, wrap it well in Saran Wrap, and let it sit overnight in the fridge before frosting and serving..)

I used a different frosting recipe cause cream cheese isn't my favorite. I added half a packet of raspberry jello to get a pink color and a little flavor (thanks for the tip mom!)
1/3 cup softened butter
3 cups powdered sugar
1 ½ tsp. vanilla
2-3 Tbsp. milk to reach desired consistency (For the bundt cakes I use 2 Tbsp. of milk as you want stiffer frosting.)
Mix until smooth.

Cool frosting smudge in the pictures huh!
Karaoke is never a disappointment and turns out we've been missing out cause Thursday nights rule pretty hard. Hardly anyone is there and those that are can sing pretty good. And then this happened:
(why was I yelling? why is this song so high? why am I posting this?)

February classroom
I had a great 3 week off-track and started back teaching right in time for Valentine's Day. Does anyone else wish that Valentine's was at the end of the month like most major holidays? It sneaks up.
Got school pics!
At art this week the students made different animals and things out of hearts. When they got back from art this little one had some new earrings she was showing off. On instagram I was saying how it reminded me of when we took paperclips and made retainers out of them. Teen Dreamin.
I used this free printable for my Valentine's this year that I gave to the kids. They were the simplest, cheapest, non candy gift. Pretty great.
The killing I made that piled on my desk.
I didn't do a cute job on this example, but I had to document the idea because it's pretty cool. I showed the kids this "magic trick" card and they all clapped. It was the best. Such an easy crowd, these guys.
The ABC's of things we LOVE. Not that awesome, but I put a bulletin board up, so here you go.
We had a small unit on Feelings and it was super fun to talk about. We read stories and looked at the expressions of the characters. We acted out different feelings. We brainstormed different feelings we could have and why. We also documented in writing journals how we felt each day.

Maggie visitor
for your enjoyment: the instagram comments that captioned this shot. so funny.
2/15/12
West Jordan, UT
Maggie came into town for the weekend and it's almost as rude as it is fun cause I just want her in SLC big time. She comes here and just teases me with her company.
Today she came in for a few hours before her flight. I loved having an adult to talk to and also do a couple jobs for me (pencil sharpener!? yep. spelling center!? uh huh).
She was asked by those little 6-7 year olds 3 times "who's mom are you?" and a million times "guess what my name is?" which she entertained like a true star. You shoulda seen the hugs she got when she left. I'm telling you... these kids get an ounce of attention and they'll eat out of your palms.
