yeast, flour, honey, set, rise, bake at 350=world peace

Baked bread with two of my sisters today. (one and two)
We tried 3 recipes: one from Martha Stewart, one from Cooks Illustrated, and one recommended by a friend. I've had a slice of each. Winners all around.
What I've concluded:
+since when did bread not have eggs?
+long process----totally worth it
+the smell of bread could solve all the hate, crime, war, and sadness in the world
+forget my previous post....all i ever really need is a slice of this stuff, please

all i ever need really,

pardon my french

do you think if i learned french I could get cheekbones and pouty lips like Carla Bruni?
worth a try anyways.

i made french macaroons today. they were a delight. I thought I'd fill them with chocolate ganache, but that was a no-go. I went for the peanut butter and jam fillings. but not together, separate.
a dream. a real french dream.

please make these and listen to nothing but Carla Bruni on the repeats. Esp. this song.
next fillings to try: coconut, marshmallow, ice cream

day off=solid breakfast at the OPH with friends, park city for outlets, experiments in the kitchen, surprise MLK march outside our house, and tops friends to keep the dream alive with.

Wait a second

So apparently Dan Martensen and Shannan Click have my life. weird.
I love The Selby's images, and I love the concept of photographing people in their homes and creative, inspiring environments.
It's beautiful, isn't it?

I've created a list of skills I want to acquire or strengthen in 2010, here are a few:
knitting
canning: pickles, salsa, peaches
jam making
bread baking
quilting
gardening
muscle toning (that's a skill right?)
hip hop dancing
mouth washing
reading (just more of it)
journaling
happiness spreading

raw

I was in the baking mood yesterday afternoon and decided to try this recipe that was sitting in my dessert file. Raw Brownie Bites with Vanilla Icing.
I didn't have walnuts or cashews so I used almonds and they worked out great. I was amazed at how tasty the icing was with the few and simple ingredients. Agave is my new best friend.

and the 10

welcome new year.
